Meet the Authors

Sara Schoen
My name is Sara, I’m twenty years old, and I was born and raised in Northern Virginia. I have always been interested in writing, even started a book in elementary school, but it wasn’t until high school that my friend, and writing partner, more or less forced me to join an amateur writing site. After some convincing from her, I plucked up the courage and posted one of my stories. While it wasn’t popular at first, I was shocked and overwhelmed by the support of readers on Wattpad, and they gave me the support and confidence to get where I am today. I continued to write religiously for the next three years I was on the website, starting countless stories and deleting a few others. It wasn't until I was nineteen that I was given the opportunity to work with a publisher, and I'm excited that I now get to share my work with countless other people as well as continue to write for the fans that supported me to continue working toward telling the world a remarkable story.
Taylor Henderson
My name is Taylor, and I was born and raised in Northern Virginia. I have been an adamant reader and writer for as long as I can remember. Writing has been a huge part of my life since I was able to even grip a pencil. Now I am twenty years old, and nothing has really changed. I am still a resident of the state for lovers, and I still use writing as my main form of expression. I love the idea that with a few words, all put together in perfect order; I can create a world of my own. I have the ability to create characters who have special talents that I’ve always wanted, or even situations that I’ve never experienced in real life. Writing is the only activity that I seem to excel at. It’s my escape from my average life. A place where I can be who I want to be, go places that I’ve never been, and meet people whom I’ve only met in my dreams. Isn’t that what writing is all about? Finding an escape into another world? Because let’s face it, the world we live in today is crazy, and uncontrollable. I like being in control. I just want to write my own story.

***My Personal Review***

The Dying Game starts out like most novels with joking, laughing, seeing Matt and Ashley - two siblings who are clearly good friends conversing with each other about their love lives. Matt is dating Jen, a girl that is known to "get around" and wants out but isn't sure how; while Ashley or "ash" is truly in love with Garrett and wants to give him her virginity that week. So we find that they are preparing to take a trip, but we aren't told where until they are leaving. It turns out they are going to New Orleans, and as they board the train the joking is still there, no indication on the surface that anything will go wrong - but we know by the name of the book that something will occur and it won't be good. They arrive in New Orleans and start to party and have fun, Kelsey, a good friend of all 3 is there with them, and Ashley believes that Matt should break up with Jen and get together with Kelsey because she thinks they are perfect for each other. We see a nice back and forth between Matt and Kelsey on the train ride, and FINALLY after finding out that Kelsey's ex-bf slept with his girlfriend Jen, Matt finally breaks up with her over the phone. It is kind of strange to me that Jen being his girlfriend is NOT on the trip with them. Turns out it is better off she is not there anyways. After a night of fun and make-out sessions the group is together in a cemetery and they hear something, and end up finding an underground area so they go to research it. WRONG MOVE. They are quickly all knocked out and wake up in a dark and grim room and try to find their way out. But then Matt hears someone yelling for help, so of course like any horror movie he must run and see what it is. And of course it is 2 girls strapped to tables, wounded and terrified. Only 1 is alive and Matt has to carry her back to the group. Then they are followed and must run and finally the floor opens up and they are in a room with a cryptic note that tells them they must choose their fate and play the game and possibly live or die. Rebecca, the one that Matt has saved recalls her experience here with her sister for the first time and believes she is to blame for her death. Suddenly they hear a booming voice come out of the walls "HERE ARE THE RULES". What follows is a terrifying journey of 4 friends and 2 other groups of people that are also trying to find their way out. Will they all survive or will they have to do something horrible to make it out alive? I am a sucker for stories about solving riddles to survive like the movie Saw and The Cube. Would you play???? Would you take even the SLIGHTEST chance that you may live???? That is the dilemma that they face in the book, and from the prologue it sounds as if one of them is the lone survivor. This book definitely begs the question ... would YOU sacrifice yourself to save those you love or would you save yourself instead? And is that the question they will have to face? That small tidbit leaves you on the edge of your seat the entire time wondering who lives and who dies - and ultimately WHO is behind the torturous game and why? I was literally on the edge of my seat the entire book, read it in 3 sittings because I couldn't put it down! I received a complimentary ebook in exchange for an honest review :)

  1. Hi Erika, I wanted to thank you for reviewing The Dying Game by myself and Taylor. We were wondering if you had time to/wanted to read a new book of ours and leave us another review. We are trying to get into bookstores and the more reviews the better the chances we've heard, and we would love for you to be apart of it. Just email us at shcowriters13@gmail.com if that's something you're interested in.
