Henge by Realm Lovejoy is a YA Fantasy that is a modern spin-off of the Arthurian legends featuring Morgan Le Fay as the protagonist. This tour will consist of reviews, interviews & guest posts. Check out the full schedule for more information.

HENGE CoverAbout the book:
Modern-day Camelot. Where knights no longer carry swords. Magic is dangerous. And those who seek control are not to be trusted.

Sixteen-year-old Morgan le Fay is a fire user. An ordinary girl with an extraordinary skill, she has the ability to create and command fire at will. Her dream is to become the Maven—the right hand of the future King Arthur. In the chance of a lifetime, Morgan is selected to join Arthur’s Round, an elite group of young magic users from which the new Maven will be chosen.

Along with the other fire, water, and wind users in Arthur’s Round, Morgan is rigorously trained and tested. The handsome Merlin, a brilliant water user, takes a particular interest in her. Is his friendship to be trusted, or is Merlin simply trying to win the position of Maven for himself? Among the many rivals Morgan faces is the current Maven, Mordred, who seems determined to see her fail.

But Morgan has a secret—years ago, her mother was executed for using fire magic, and Morgan’s desire for justice makes her more than ready to take on the challenge before her. Can she prevail in Camelot’s tests of survival and magic? Only time—and Morgan’s powerful fire—will tell.

Realm Lovejoy’s modern Arthurian series features one of literature’s most complicated and powerful female figures. Henge is the first book in the LE FAY series, and—like Morgan le Fay’s magic—it is sure to dazzle and amaze.

***Author Interview***

1. Can you share a little of your current work with us?

I am currently promoting the first book in the Le Fay Series, HENGE, which is out now. It’s a YA fantasy and a modern spin-off of the Arthurian legends featuring Morgan le Fay as the protagonist.

Writing-wise, I’m drafting the second book in the Le Fay Series. It’s a lot darker than the first book with a few twists. I’m especially excited about it because the second book is what drove me to write the series in the first place. It's the big bang that spun out the story in my mind and I can’t wait to share the next book with everyone.

For side projects, I am in the progress of adapting my novels into screenplays and graphic novels.

In the game industry, I am working on cinematics, which is super exciting to learn.

2. Do you see writing as a career?

Absolutely. I've been writing my whole life and will continue to do so. I'd love to tell stories forever and it'd be a nice bonus to make a living doing so.

 3. Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?

I didn't travel for CLAN (my debut novel) since the setting was far out and very sci-fi. The Le Fay Series is set in alternate and fictional UK so it was a good reason to travel there and research. It was especially important for me to visit and go to all the Arthurian sites so I could make the setting as vivid as possible. I went for a week and drove through Wales, Cornwall, and back to London. With a notebook in hand, I jotted down notes on the weather, food, plants, and atmosphere. I saw a new place everyday. To name a few places, I stayed in Tintagel, Morgan le Fay’s hometown, for two nights and walked the coastal path to Tintagel Castle and Merlin’s Cave. I visited Stonehenge and Avebury and spent a great deal of time soaking in the setting and getting a sense of awe for the stone monuments. I fell in love with every place. The trip was so worth it.

4. Who designed the covers?

Since I happen to be an artist, I’m fortunate to design my own covers. For my day job, I work fulltime in the videogame industry as an artist.

5. Do you have any advice for other writers?

This is the advice I’ve been giving myself lately: Accept that you’re in it for the long haul and do your best for every little aspect. Think of it like you’re building a house—the house representing the entirety of your career. Focus on one task at a time, and do it the best way you know how to so that it’s on a strong foundation and when you stand back to look at the whole thing, it’s what you envisioned the first day you started dreaming. It represents you.
