Wine Club from Uncorked Ventures Review

Wine Club from Uncorked Ventures Review

#Uncorked

Website

We're a different kind of wine club.  First, we're a family owned and operated startup based just outside of San Francisco.  Secondly, instead of buying wine through middle men and distributors, we spend time in wine country getting to know winemakers, vineyard owners, farmers and others directly involved in the creation of what's in your glass....yeah, yeah I know, it's a tough part of the job!

***My Personal Review***

YUM!  For this promotion I received 2 bottles of wine from the "Explorations" collection.  You do have a choice between getting 2 mid-priced bottles from the Explorations collection OR you can choose one bottle from their Special Selections club.  I am not normally a huge wine drinker so I wasn't sure what to expect.  But the wines I received had a really great taste and I did not experience that "aftertaste" that some wines leave which I don't like at all.  The bottles I received were Dacalier De La Terre 2009 and Del Rio Vineyards Syrah 2011 from Rogue Valley Oregon, one of the largest vineyards in the area.  The Dacalier is a company that was started several years ago by 4 friends and it is 60% grenache, 38% mourvedre and 2% syram.  This one is from Napa Valley, California.

The Dacalier was my favorite of the two probably because the more fruit flavor in the wine the better for me.  This one definitely smelled and tasted great - it has a distinct berry taste but a little huskiness as well.  This wine is classified as a medium bodied wine that is close to Pinot Noir.  It notes that it pairs well with rustic food which I can definitely believe although I did not drink these with any specific kind of food.   But it tasted SO good and I think this would be a great wine for any tasting parties :)  I prefer red wines to white, and this is a red blend so it's nice and light on the tongue and leaves a great aftertaste that you will really enjoy!

The Syrah was a little different - I liked it because it has blackberry and cherry both in it which are 2 of my favorite fruits!  I adore anything blackberry flavored so this hits it perfectly.  This also contains some spiciness to it which I attribute to the nutmeg, giving it that really heady flavor that makes it all warm and wonderful.  The smell of the wine is the only thing that I wasn't thrilled about - the eucalyptus was not my favorite - I love the smell of eucalyptus but in wine not so much.  But that is JUST the smell of it.  Once you try it, you can't taste that and the great flavor will overpower that :)  This is another medium-bodied choice of wine that is suggested to be paired with an array of cheese as well as some good meats like steak or game.

Shipments from Uncorked Ventures are available per month and you can choose from the Explorations (2 bottles for $40) or the Special Selections (1 bottle for $95) OR the Reserve Selections (3 bottles for $195).  This is a great way to get some new and delicious wines to try each month!  I was very happy with my shipment and I have a lot of people I know that would love to have a shipment of wine every month :)  All of their wines come from either Oregon, Washington or California and are rated at 90 or above by critics.  You will not be disappointed.  Besides the wine club they also have gift baskets and wine gifts that you can order.  You can order online or call now to order: 650-762-WINE.  And once you order you have benefits for being a member such as a 15% discount on all wine club reorders; First dibs on all special selections and last call wines, before they are offered to the public; a monthly newsletter with tasting tips and industry favorites.  Try one today!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
