Happy Book Birthday, Jenny!
David and Charlotte paid their dues. They traveled to another realm, battled the Dragon King, recovered the all important magic key to the mage tunnels, and found the heir to the throne of Hirth, as promised. Now it's time to go home. There’s just one problem: the powerful crystals needed to activate the tunnels have been stolen…and David’s parents have mysteriously disappeared along with them. Guess who’s not going home to Havendale anytime soon.Eric Hamden, squire extraordinaire, survived the poisonous knick of a shadowmorth’s blade, rescued the king of Hirth from the bowels of the dragon's lair, and confronted a heartbreaking betrayal that nearly got him killed. Still reeling from the news, Eric sets his sights on a daring rescue only to wind up in a prison of his own with David and Charlotte at his side. But rescues come in strange ways, and before they know it, the three end up in David's hometown of Havendale...and Eric gets a quick schooling in Modern Life 101. He'd rather fight a dragon. With secrets, lies and betrayals meeting them at every turn, David, Charlotte and Eric soon discover that Havendale isn't the sanctuary they'd hoped for. Even their best-laid plans can't prepare them for the danger that stalks them. This time, no amount of magic or prayers can save them. War has been declared, and in the final battle, someone must make the ultimate sacrifice. Let the battle begin.

OTHER BOOKS IN THE SERIES
That’s you by the way. Before I say anything else, I want to say thank you. Thank you for taking the time to find my books, checking them out of the library. Taking time to leave comments and reviews and sending personal notes. It’s because of you I write. You are what makes all those hours in front of the computer worthwhile. Thank you for giving my lifelong dream purpose and meaning.
Some of you have asked why I choose to write YA fantasy. I suppose it’s because I can make anything up and it’s okay. It’s my way to escape the real world. As a kid and into my teen years, I was bullied, made fun of, called names. A 17-year-old guy shot me in the leg with a bb gun on purpose because he said I was ugly. Guys called me names. A date in high school ditched me for another girl at a dance. No one asked me to go to Prom. One guy I went out with in high school thought he was entitled to ‘payment’ after the date. The one date I went on was with a guy I really liked turned into a disaster. I never was the popular girl. I lived a very lonely life in high school. When I write fantasy, I take all that pain and heartache I suffered and I can make it right. I can think of ways to ultimately exact revenge on the antagonists that inflict pain upon my protagonists. In a way, I can get back at those who hurt me when I was young by living vicariously through my characters. It’s cathartic. It’s healing.
My stories deal with many issues other than bullying such as the death of parents, deceit, lies, betrayals, war, honor, love and sacrifice. I love it when kids come up to me and tell me how much they loved Trog (my knight), and how they wish they had a ‘dad’ like him. That makes me feel great because he was based a lot on my dad, and it makes me so happy to be able to have a part of my dad— no matter how grand or skewed my visions may be of him—in these stories that will live for all time.
Now that the series is written and the last book is in developmental edits, I have my mind set on a YA fantasy romance which will be a challenge for me because I never experience romance as a teen. But I know how I would have wanted to experience it, so that’s how I’ll write it…with a little help from some magic and a wise dragon. I’m super excited to start on this new book so stay tuned to find out more.
If you’ve ever been bullied or shunned, if you’re not experiencing your teenage years the way you wanted to, I hope you check out my books. I suggest reading them in order so you’re not lost in the scheme of things. And if you’re not quite sure about the whole fantasy thing, I hope you give the books a try so you can experience with me how wonderful magic can be. The names of my books are IN THE SHADOW OF THE DRAGON KING, and RAGE OF THE DRAGON KING. Check out my website for a list of where you can get the books. If you can’t afford to buy them, check with your local library.
As always, thank you for your interest. Thank you for reading. It’s because of you that I write. Knowing my words meant something to even one reader fills my soul with so much happiness I can’t even express. Thank you for everything and stay in touch. You can find me all over the internet. Links to my social media sites are on my website. Stay in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.
