Welcome to my tour stop for The Banished Craft by E.D.E. Bell!  The tour runs August 18 - September 1 with reviews, interviews, guest posts, excerpts and giveaways.  The Banished Craft is a fantasy novel and is written for adults but is appropriate for mature young adult readers.   This is the first book of the Shkode series and releases on September 1, 2015.

 About the Book:

The Banished Craft is a genre-bending fantasy saga that follows the adventures of Cor, a woman caught in a dying world that does not accept her, and Atesh, a dragon scientist who's been asked to violate his own ethics or put the lives of his family at risk. Follow their trials as they deal with a shattered world, mired in political upheaval, while they try to rediscover a lost magic. The Banished Craft begins the Shkode trilogy: a quirky and modern take on dragons and wizards, exploring themes of identity, prejudice, violence, compassion, and the ways we are all connected.

*** Author Interview***

What genre do you consider your book(s)?
- I consider The Banished Craft a genre-bending adaptation of epic fantasy. If people are looking for traditional class roles, as in a gray-bearded wizard and a stout ax-wielding dwarf, they will not find it. What they will find is magic, dragons, dimensional theory, and a rich cast of diverse characters. It’s different, and I hope people enjoy it.

Who designed the covers?
- I am thrilled to be working with Anna Rettberg on the covers for the Shkode trilogy. I passed her these really terrible stick drawings of what I wanted to see, and she illustrated it in a way that is rich and alive. I love her cover for The Banished Craft, and especially that it’s not a traditional fantasy image, while still full of passion and mystery.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
- I heard an interview with Rob Thomas once talking about Matchbox Twenty’s iconic album Yourself or Someone Like You. He talked about filling in gaps in his own personal experiences with those of bandmates and friends into a story that was really special. My books are similar. There is always a lot of my own being in the characters, mixed with ideas and emotions experienced by others.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?
- I’ve drafted the sequel to The Banished Craft, and I am very happy with how the novel has turned out so far. I lead off the book with several big plot twists! Game-changers right from the first chapter, for sure. I feel like the second book is bolder in several ways than the first, so I hope you like it. We will be running a crowdfunding campaign in October with customized rewards to cover the editing costs, so if you’re interested please keep an eye out for that.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
- Yes! I appreciate you! I appreciate every person who gives my writing a chance, who sends me a note, who writes a review, or who shares some part of this journey with me. Thank you so very much! I hope this is only the beginning.
